Do I need design software?

No. You describe the pages you want and edit anything directly on the page. There is nothing to install and no layout file to hand around.

Can my printer use the PDF?

Yes. The Professional Print preset gives you 300 DPI, real CMYK against FOGRA51, FOGRA52, GRACoL 2013, SWOP 2006 or your printer's own profile, plus 3 mm bleed and crop marks.

How long can a catalogue be?

Long. A 1,250 page catalogue opens as quickly as a short one and a 498 page press quality export finishes in about two minutes.

What happens when prices change?

Update the spreadsheet and export again. Every page that reads from it follows, so a reissue takes minutes instead of another round of layout.
